Water Quality Initiatives

Water Testing

The North Haven Water Quality Committee was formed in 2022 to focus on initiatives that will improve the creeks, ponds, bays and estuaries of North Haven today and for generations to come.

The Village of North Haven is partnering with Dr. Christopher Gobler, from the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University, to perform water quality testing across a range of dimensions, at six key sites in North Haven starting in the fall of 2022, and continuing into 2023:   Genet Creek, Polles Creek, Fresh Pond, Great Salt Pond, Mashomuck Creek and the bay at South Ferry.   Results will be posted to this site as they are obtained.

This site contains links to presentations and other useful information to help you learn about what you and your family can do to help improve North Haven’s water quality.

Please explore these resources, or reach out to Eileen Tuohy at etuohy@northhavenvillage.org or Trustee Terie Diat at tdiat@northhavenvillage.org with questions or how you can get involved.
